To help us have the best-in-class future products, we are looking for a UX Researcher who can help us gain customer insight into graphics workflows, ergonomics, use models and other important areas.

Our preferred candidate is someone who has customer empathy, is a team player and loves technology. They love to work with our industrial designer, UX/UI Designer, product managers, developer team and others to translate customer input into innovative yet practical product design ideas. This role requires someone who is well organized and can follow-up.

This person must be able to communicate effectively to various teams within our organization. Preference will be given to someone who understands the animation, 2D & 3D design markets although we are open to a quick learner.

Note: This role includes meetings that are often held outside of typical business hours to accommodate colleagues and customers located in international time zones.

  • Help identify valuable new feature ideas and improve existing functionality via user research methods.

  • Design and run customer studies to gain deep and relevant insight that will allow us to design best-in-class digital drawing hardware and software.

  • Develop a body of knowledge of customer profiles and user flows to help drive innovation.

  • Work with other team members to implement a design thinking approach.

  • Collaborate with Product Managers, Industrial Design team, UX/UI Designer, and others to uncover innovative solutions to customer problems, inefficiencies, frustrations, etc.; areas where our products can add value.

  • Work closely with Industrial Designers for the optimal design of product hardware including usability, ergonomics, etc.

  • Help determine physical product out-of-box experience including packaging and setup.

  • Manage customer design collaboration and design validation studies.

  • Participate in development of the product and solution roadmap

  • Manage participant recruiting, scheduling, and study session logistics.

  • Weekly reporting of progress and barriers to success. Participate in product meetings.

  • Xencelabs is a global company. You must be able to work and communicate successfully with team members from different countries and cultures.

  • Outgoing personality that can interact with customers and partners. Demonstrated empathy and the ability to put yourself in the head of the customer

  • Proven experience in successfully managing projects. Strong planning and analytical skills

  • Experience in conducting user interviews, surveys, observations, etc is very important. Use of modern research tools like Miro and others also important.

  • Understanding of graphics industry, familiarity with pen tablets, pen displays, and other drawing tools would be ideal but not required.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills. A team player.

  • Out of the box, creative thinker, able to problem solve.

  • Self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced, constantly evolving environment. Comfortable with multiple tasks and ability to wear many hats.

  • 2-3 years experience in a similar role (may include market research)

  • Familiarity with UX research or market research on physical products (hardware) highly valued.

  • Familiarity with UX design tools helpful but not essential

  • Ability to speak, read and write Chinese.

  • Prolonged sitting, frequent standing, bending, stooping and occasional lifting of up-to 50 pounds.

NOTE: Once Covid restrictions are lifted:
  • Local and US based travel to meet with customers and partners.

  • Possible occasional travel to China.
